There is a good reason for 12 Volt appliances not performing as well as your kitchen appliances do. Specifically, your 12 Volt Lighter plug just doesn't have the power requirements needed to allow the 12 Volt appliances to do an outstanding job. Manufacturers know this and do what they can to reduce the power needed as much as possible.
So what is the solution? Well like it or not, there are only 2 viable solutions. You can connect directly to the battery or use an alternate power source. Still, as we said, the 12 Volt appliances themselves have been designed to use as little power as possible. Power Hunt has basically bypassed the weakness of the 12 volt cigarette lighter and gone straight to the battery with their 50 amp 12 Volt Power Strip; in addition to the alternative of completely eliminating any battery by using their 12 Volt Portable Power Pack. The 12 Volt Portable Power Pack is a rechargeable Mobile Power Pack designed to be carried anywhere, used without any external power, then recharged by either 12 Volts or 120 volts.
2 Power Solutions:
1) A 12 Volt Power Strip that hooks to the battery, similar to the way an inverter would, except unlike an inverter which is fairly inefficient and always draws power from the battery, the Power Strip uses no power until the Appliance is plugged in and turned on.
Basically the Power Strip allows higher amperage (up to 600 watts/50 amps) for your 12 Volt appliances. Note: The 12 Volt Power Strip is included in the Wagoneer Lunch, Dinner and Breakfast Griddle Kits, along with an 8' Battery Cable to connect to the battery. If you do not buy one of the Starter Kits, you will need to purchase either the 8' or 12' battery Cable, or pick up a length of wire from Radio Shack.
