RoadTrucker Security Statement

We Care About Your Online Security

To ensure your information is private and secure, we use a secure shopping cart with high assurance SSL Certificates, to make sure your data is Encrypted with the highest encryption protection available.

We understand that you're concerned about the security and privacy of your online transactions. This is why we at RoadTrucker Inc leased RomanCart to ensure that your valuable data, such as credit card details, are encrypted when you interact with our site. But, SSL is only part of the security. To further protect you, we made sure that RomanCart had also gone through an Extended Validation (EV) process, which guarantees that they are who they say they are and protects you for up to a quarter of a million dollars.

We have noticed many website advertising that they have the best security available and point to the yellow lock. You need more than just the lock. The problem with just having an SSL certificate is that thieves can also very easily get an SSL Certificate. There is NO checking. That is why SSL/EV is so important. Thieves cannot get the EV (Extended Validation) because they cannot verify the address, nor the legitimacy of the company holding your personal information. The minimum requirements for SSL/EV Certification is you must be either a legitimate (registered) Corporation or an LLC. It is a rigorous 3 step verification process .

  • Secure Sockets Layer, SSL, is the security technology for encrypting a link between a web server and a browser. All data passed between our web server and your browser remains private, encrypted and secure.

Whenever you enter personal data on our payment pages, you'll notice that http:// is replaced by https:// (The "s" stands for "Secure"). A small yellow padlock Yellow Padlock will also appear either in the bottom right-hand corner of your browser or in the address bar at the top (depending on your browser), as a sign that we are now engaging SSL. (Another sign on some browsers is that when you enter the secure area of the site, the address bar turns bright green.

  • To generate an encrypted SSL transmission, a web server requires an SSL Certificate. Checking a website's certificate is good practice that helps you avoid spoof websites, sometimes called "phishing" sites. To check the certificate, click on the padlock. Your browser will show you the name of the owner of the certificate. This name should match the name of the website and if applicable, it's parent company. For example, since we use RomanCart and Google Checkout, you will see RomanCart LTD and Checkout.Google.com, respectively. RomanCart is the host shopping Cart for 32,000 businesses and of course everyone knows who Google is. We chose RomanCart because of their professionalism in handling and securing data. We particularly like the way they delete the credit card information after 7 days. Note: We no longer hold card information, as we no longer process manually. You will be connected directly to the processor and your card data will be encrypted and transferred automatically without any one seeing or having access to your credit card data.

The SSL certificates are issued by a leading certificate authority, that is Web Trust-compliant, meaning that their business practices and processes have been rigorously audited according to AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants) guidelines by an independent approved auditor (Ernst & Young).

High Assurance certificates enable a high level of encryption. They also confirm that a company is a legally accountable organization. i.e. A registered corporation or LLC; or in the case of RomanCart, a LTD

To receive a High Assurance SSL Certificate, a company has to demonstrate that they are an existing business, along with their control over the domain you are visiting. When you shop online, you deserve to know who you are dealing with. More importantly, you need to know who your supplying your personal data too.

Seeing a site with a High Assurance SSL Certificate, confirms two essential factors:
    • That you have a secure SSL (encrypted) link with this website.

    • That this website represents a real organization.

We employ state-of-the-art data encryption to ensure safe and secure transactions to our site. Your computer and ours agree to transpose whatever we are sending into an unintelligible "hash" of characters, using a technology called SSL. For example:

Without the information on your computer or ours, no one can understand our encrypted communication. For your safety, please expect anyone you give your confidential information to, on the Internet, to use encryption, the way we do.

    • When you are on a Secure web page (any page that request personal information) verify that HTTPS: is in the address bar and that the address bar is green. The most advanced Security on the web today is SSL/EV (Secure Socket Layer/Extended Validation).  How do you know? Again, look for the address bar to Turn Green.

    • Do not be fooled by a logo of a trusted organization that is NOT valid. Double Click on the logo. If a window does not open, or the window that opens is for the same website, instead of the authoring website, you are being tricked. For example, we have noticed several website proudly displaying well known logos and some not so well known, that are not legitimate. And most importantly, make sure the Authority is a legitimate Authority and not just made up by an unscrupulous website owner who purchased a similar sounding Domain name for the sole purpose of tricking their customers. Any legitimate organization will return thousands of search results. Don't forget to use quotes around phrases. For example, "Better Business Bureau", instead of just better Business Bureau, which will bring up sites with any one of the 3 words (Better, Business & Bureau).

    • Download the Free Google Toolbar and install it. This toolbar has an option that shows the Google Page Rank of all websites. Stay with websites who have at least a 1 PR on their Home page and you will greatly reduce your online risk. Almost all Fraudulent websites have a zero Google PR.
