A bill addressing sleep apnea and commercial drivers must now move on to President Obama's desk for his signature to become law. The bill was first introduced by Rep. Larry Bucshon, and was passed by both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate.

According to H.R. 3095, in order to revise its medical guidance on obstructive sleep apnea, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) would have to initiate a rulemaking process which entails a comment period and cost and benefit analysis.
