Thread: Sensible Trucking Outfit

    Cool Sensible Trucking Outfit

Over-the-road lifestyle can be tough especially in hot areas. It is important to choose clothing and fabrics that are sturdy and strong. When you're working up a sweat all day, get clothing that's comfortable and made of material that breathes. Here's a list of top 5 typical outfit for truckers:

    1. Jeans, T-shirts, & steel-toed boots
    2. Jeans, T-shirts & tennis shoes
    3. Jeans, sweatshirts, work boots
    4. Jeans, sleevless shirt/vest, cowboy hat & sunglasses
    5. Shorts, T-shirts & flip flops (Highly NOT recommended)

Usually most truckers prefer something loose and comfortable and would go with jeans or some decent looking sweats. Short or long sleeves will also do depending on the season. Wear layers so you can adjust for temperature changes. If you work around freight a lot, don't forget to bring a safety helmet, goggles, and gloves.

I have a hard time driving in flip flops, one time I was driving and it slipped off so I had to drive barefoot for awhile! I wear Nikes.

Personally I think driving with flip flops should be banned. A driver needs to be in control at all times. Flip Flops, as bwaa points out can be problematic.

    Hi,bwaa
Flip flops may not be technically illegal but it can be dangerous. If they are too big on you or too stretched out, the heel part can caught under the mat below the seat, or they can fall off and you can lose your grip on the gas or break pedal. So be careful! FLIP FLOPS WHILE DRIVING ARE A BAD IDEA!!!!!!! wearing flip-flops while driving is against the law,it is banned in some countries. For example you can wear Crocks as they have the strap that goes around the back of the foot and keeps it in place and sturdy shoes provide a safety benefit.

I had a well worn pair of Sketchers shoes which looked enough like work boots that nobody called me on it on the occasions when I'd just leave them on instead of changing into steel toed boots. If a 40k coil somehow lands on your foot, I don't really see steel toes making that much of a difference, anyhow. But I normally did wear my steel toes.
Other than that, jeans and a t-shirt. I have a lot of old band t-shirts I'd wear, but I would change into a plain, solid colored t-shirt before customers saw me.

Gee, I like being comfortable on hot days, I wear my birthday suit. Believe me it is a real conversation piece when getting out to do something.

On cooler days I add a thick shirt or jacket. Very inexpensive wardrobe, and does not take very long to get ready to start your day.
