Lightbulb How Do You Prevent Tire Theft?

Take a look on what Bob is doing to deter theft of tires in his business park. He's using airplane cables that are 3/8 thick and 10’ long, with eyes on each end. He wraps the cable through the wheel and secure it with war-lok heavy duty lock. Then he added the bollards, which snug up to the wheel as an added security.

The bottom line is that if they want the tires and they have the time, they can get them, but it is going to take some work and time.

What about you? How do you prevent tire theft? Add your comments below.

    hi Marie
you have need Wheel locks & alarm to stop some thieves. With locks, you just need to hammer on a socket over the lock, and you can proceed with the removal. So instead of a single lock on each wheel, going all locks will take a lot more time, and will prevent many more thefts. Plus the weight of the locks/lug nuts stays the same all around the wheel. Next step is to add an alarm with a shock or motion sensor. this method is very helpful to stop thieves.

That's actually a good idea, marksoldtowne. Alarm + lock sounds secure. But the wonderful thing about heavy duty locks like War-Lok and Enforcer roll-up is these are made of high-strength steel that can withstand forced attacks. But yes, alarms can always be helpful. Locks are a big help to reduce cargo theft. See info.

Well, I have 37's so I throw mine in the bed and have a cable around it and use a round lock like on storage units to keep people from cutting it. Working on getting the cable to secure under the toolbox, if not to it. Works so far.

Thanks for the comment, jacobh15. How big and strong are these round locks?
