    Broken Belt

Will my truck start and run without the serpentine belt? I would rather not have it towed in if I can drive it.

Yes, you can start it. Even until you reach operating temperature. Don't run it for more than 10 to 30 secounds. No belt, no water pump.

Serpentine belt drives a few different accessories your power steering, air conditioner, water pump, and alternator can all run off the same belt. The good news is it’s more efficient, easier to replace, and lasts longer than a bunch of smaller belts. When it breaks lose all these function & overheat your engine , so when you see crack in the belt repair it soon otherwise you get heavy loss .
