What are some good tips for staying out of extreme weather while driving a truck?

Extreme weather may include earthquake, flood, hail storms, severe thunderstorms and lightning, and the most common are hurricanes and tropical storms. First thing to do is to get updated of the current weather and prepare yourself. Research several alternate routes ahead so that you will have an evacuation plan.

    Pre-Trip Inspection and Preparation:
    - Check all important items such as tires, wiper blades and fluid, and lights
    - Make sure your family and friends know your destination and route

    During extreme weather:
    - Be aware of vehicles around you. Reduce your speed and correct your steering. Stay alert for slippery areas.
    - Allow for more room between yourself and other vehicles. Have space and time to move out of harm's way.
    - Use extra caution when approaching bridges
    - If stranded, stay in your vehicle. Stay put if you can't see immediate assistance
    - But if conditions get worse, get off the road. Use your best judgment and listen to weather warnings.

always have a few days worth of food and water on hand stay away from pop and energy drinks they mess with your blood sugar levels and can make you colder faster. drowsy and if your hurt thats not good. make sure your chains are always in good shape. and carrie extra air line anti freeze. if you stop on ice packed snow black ice to chain and can't get rolled to get them on you can pour it on your rubber. we call it liquid chains. makes everything sticky enough to roll em on.

I agree. If you got a small fridge load it with food and drinks. You never know when you will get stranded so you better be prepared.

Yeah watch for black ice it makes the road look slightly wet so it is difficult to spot. when you encounter this and if gets close freezing, look for signs like if ice is slowly building up on your mirror arms and top corners of your windshield. or the spray from tires of vehicles in front of you stops.
