XM Satellite Radio XR9
XM Satellite Radio Receiver & Remote Control $47.77 after XM Radio $50 RebateThe AudioVox XM Satellite Radio Receiver is a Must for that special Trucker or Traveler who spends many hours on the road. If there is a perfect gift for your perfect Trucker, the XR9 XM Satellite Radio is it. And I'm speaking from experience. I love this little radio. Living in Wilmington I had a tuff time finding a Spanish station to practice my Spanish listening skills. There is only one station and it would not come in very well. The XM Satellite Radio gets 4 Spanish stations (channels 90, 92, 94 and 95). I also like a little Bluegrass and Wilmington has no stations that play Bluegrass. The XM Satellite Radio has a clear Bluegrass station that plays bluegrass every time I turn it to channel 14. My taste in music is very eclectic and I love just about every type. The XM Satellite Radio satisfies my taste no matter what I am in the mood for. Classical (channels 110, 112 and 113), Country (channels 10 through 16), Gospel (channel 33), News (channels 121 through 134), Talk radio (channels 155 through 171) and lets not forget the important channel 171. Yep! It's the Trucker's channel. You like sports? Never miss parts of the game again. Live coverage & Updates of NASCAR, NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB; there all on XM, including Play-By-Play of ACC, PAC-10 and Big Ten Football/Basketball. And there's plenty more. Reggae, Pop, Jazz, Blues, Weather and Traffic. That's right, Traffic. Don't get caught in those huge traffic delays. XM provides 21 Major Markets. Miss just one of these huge bottlenecks and your radio is more than paid for in time saved.). There are More than 130 Digital Channels. There's even 3 Comedy channels and 2 kids channels and best of all. No Commercials! I'll say it again. I love my XM Satellite radio! I've talked to drivers who have Sirius Satellite radio, who were not happy with it, but I have not talked to a driver with XM Satellite radio who was not happy with it. My XM Satellite radio was the first product I bought that was almost as easy to get going as claimed. It takes 3 easy steps. Count em. Plug it in. Turn it on. Call 1-800-XM-RADIO to Activate
I say almost because technically the 1st step has 4 parts. But they all are Plug it in as follows. Plug the XM Radio Receiver itself into the Mobile cradle. (It just slips right in) Plug the antenna into the XM Satellite Receiver. Plug the lighter adapter power cord into the XM Satellite Receiver Now you plug it in to your lighter.
And I guess I would be remiss if I didn't say that the technically the 2nd step also has 2 steps. XM forgot to say that you have to turn your radio to FM 88.1. And by the way, my AudioVox XM Satellite Radio will play just fine even when it's over 8' from my radio. If your new to XM radio and the Satellite Receiver, it will read the satellite signals from both the Satellites and from the ground transmitters and convert it to an FM Frequency so you don't have to run a wire to your radio. Neat huh? And if you want to hook it to your home sound system, you can run a wire from the Audio out to the input of your favorite sound system and totally lose the FM Frequency. Negatives you ask? Well there is always something to keep life from being perfect and XM Satellite radio is no exception. Coming back from PA, I ran into that horrible Baltimore traffic. Darn.. I should have been listening to the Traffic channel. But I didn't and was caught in a 4 hours nightmare. Oh.. we were talking about the negatives of using Satellite radio, not driving through Baltimore. There was bleed over going through Baltimore. Apparently in high traffic areas you have so many radio stations that you really can't find a good free channel for your Satellite signal. However for the great majority of my trip from Wilmington, NC to PA and back XM stayed with me. So if you travel through high traffic areas, I would recommend getting an adaptor for your antenna which will cut out the regular radio stations.
